How To Prevent Rust!

You can’t always prevent rust from appearing on your automated gate, but there are things you can do to slow down the likelihood. Cleaning helps to improve your gate’s lifespan; however, it depends on the material it’s made with. All materials need to have debris removed, either from the gate itself, around the gate or within the mechanical parts. It can affect how the gate works and can also be unsightly to look at as grime builds up. If the gate is made of wood, keeping them painted or oiled will help to keep them clean. They are less likely to rust than a metal gate, but rust can still appear on hinges and any metal parts. A metal gate will need to be looked after efficiently, to ensure rust doesn’t appear. Unfortunately, it can’t always be prevented, but any slight rust appearance can be dealt with, by cleaning it with mild detergent and water. Any build-up of dirt and debris can be dislodged with a hose every so often and applying wax to the gate can help to protect it and keep it looking visually healthy, call us for your automated gates in Exeter and Torbay.
